We had the chance to go install an 8 foot half pipe out in Pacific Palisades (Santa Monica/Malibu) on a hardscape basketball court for a customer recently. This customer was actually one of the very first purchasers of an OC Ramps quarter pipe almost 8 years ago! The customer couldn’t get enough and decided toContinue reading »
OC RAMPS 8TH ANNUAL RAMPTOBER
This year the OC Ramps crew put on the 8th annual Ramptober, and this might have ended up being our most successful event yet! The event was held Saturday, November 22nd here at the OC Ramps warehouse, we opened the doors to the public at 6:30pm and begun our night. One of the highlights of the night was that this year’s theme was 1980’s! Seeing the OC team and crew and a ton of our guests show up in their 80’s gear was awesome, everyone looked so rad! We also had live bands playing outside in the back of the compound including Eve of Destruction and Law. There was a bar serving up some kegged beer from a local brewery, and Westside Taco Co. was serving up some of the best tacos we have ever had.
The first 50 guests in the door got a free gift, a personalized sticker and poster pack from the crew. All of our ramps were painted with custom 80’s themed designs and ready to be skated! There was free skate in the warehouse and outside on our favorite mini ramp (16 foot wide and 5 foot tall with an extension). We also did a fan favorite, cash for tricks, both street style and on the mini ramp. There were some new faces and of course some OG’s pulling out rad tricks. As always, make sure that you are following all of OC Ramps social media so you can be the first to see announcements regarding any upcoming events at the warehouse. (instagram.com/oc_ramps) These events are some of our favorite days of the year, and we are already eager for our next one! Thank you for everyone who came out to this years Ramptober, see you all next year!
OC RAMPS x HOT DAWGZ & HAND RAILS 2016
This year OC Ramps was invited back to the Hot Dawgz and Hand Rails event at big bear resort. The event was held September 23 and 24th and was the best winter kickoff around. This year the resort changed things up and along side the snowboard competition and mini ramp they held a two day concert featuring She Wants Revenge, Atlas Genius, Eagles of Death metal, and more!
The OC Ramps crew headed up the mountain on Friday to get the ramp set up and painted for Saturday’s competition. That night they attended the concert with VIP access and got to listen to all the rad bands that the event had lined up.
On Saturday we had Greg Lutzka, Tom Ryen, Nick Palmquist, Taylor Bingaman, Mike Berdis, Chase Webb, and pro snowborder and creater of grenade, Danny Kass, all shredding the halfpipe. The guys killed it and pulled out some awesome tricks!
We had such an awesome time at the event and can’t wait to attend next year!
We were contacted by the production people for the festival about a month ago. They let us know that they wanted us to come out to the festival and put together a few obstacles. Once they locked down the location within the festival, they sent us the dimensions and let us know they wanted everything totally customized to fit the space and they wanted us to turn it into a mini skate park.
The next few days were spent in the warehouse cutting, drilling, and building as much of the park as possible. In order to get everything shipped, we booked an entire freight truck and rushed the shipment. A couple days after we shipped everything out, our owner Tyler headed out to Louisiana with four of our pro skaters. The pros that were hired to skate the park during the festival were Tom Ryen, Christian Sereika, Jordan Hoffart, and Dave Bachinsky. The guys arrived in Louisiana and were able to explore the city before they had to go to the event and finish the build and set up of the custom skate park. They were also able to attend a football game at the super dome where the festival was being held the next day!
A huge thanks for Lil Wayne to having OC Ramps be a part of Weezyana! We can’t wait for the next event.

OC Ramps x Dekult – Punk Rock Skate Night
This past Saturday, July 23rd, Dekult joined OC Ramps for a punk rock skate night at the OC Ramps warehouse here in Santa Ana. Dekult is a clothing brand that was recently created, and they wanted to hold their first big event with our team. The event started 7pm, doors opened at 6:30, and went off until around 10:30pm. When the OC Ramps crew showed up around 6:00 to prepare, there were already around 75-100 kids waiting to enter and start skating! We wanted this event to have a little bit of everything, so there was skating, 3 bands performing, tacos, drinks, giveaways, and most importantly rad times! We also gave away $700 in best trick contests. The skating involved free skate, a miniramp jam, and a street and ledge jam. We had some great skaters come out here to the warehouse and compete for the prize money, and saw some sick skating by all! Dave Bachinsky and Micky Papa were two big names that came out to skate! The $700 cash was available for a 3 obstacle competition via “cash for tricks.” The 12′ long Butter Bench, the 5′ tall mini ramp and 16′ long round rail. $5’s were offered for basic tricks, $10’s for a little better and $20’s if you really ‘wowed’ the judges. During the cash for tricks, mayhem ensued! For example, on the mini ramp there 30-40 people crammed on it with 4-5 kids dropping in at a time. There should technically only be one skater dropping in at a time, but because they were so hungry for the cash prize and the energy level was so high they disregarded the usual “halfpipe protocols” and just dropped in and went for it. Dave Bachinsky was with the crowd on the halfpipe, but once he saw how many people were dropping in at a time, he counted himself out for the mini ramp portion of the competition!
The night was full of incredible punk rock-ska talent by Eve of Destruction, Hay Stroker and No Questions Asked, Jon Brucher’s band. We had a stage set up in the back of the warehouse by our 5 foot tall 16 foot wide mini ramp. The bands set up out there and Eve of Destruction kicked off the night. After getting the crowd pumped up, Hay Stroker was the second performance, and to end the night on a high note No Questions Asked closed out the event! The turnout at this event was awesome, we had tons of skaters come out, families, and fans of the ska bands that performed. We definitely loved the set up of this event. Make sure you are following OC Ramps on instagram: instgram.com/oc_ramps, so you can look out for our next warehouse party announcement. We are highly active on our account, and always keep you guys posted the minute that another rad event is coming up. We have been in contact with a customer for about a year now, he expressed interest in wanting a custom wooden skate bowl in his new backyard. This customer has been working on building a custom house, adding in a pool in the backyard, as well as a full basketball court and a lounge area.Continue reading »
Our skate team really enjoys this type of basic and simple mobile skatepark. We had Greg Lutzka, Christian Siereka, and Nick Palmquist skate, along with a handful of their friends. The public was super into it, and it fit the scene and vibe extremely well. When the event was over, we threw the ramps on our flatbed trailer and headed back to OC Ramps. Let us know if you would like to pull up to your next event with our mobile skatepark!
When we arrived at his home, he had a big trampoline in the backyard in the general area of where he wanted the ramp to go. So we went ahead and moved the tramp over a bit and there was a perfect spot to fit the halfpipe. The area to build the halfpipe on had to be 23 feet long by 16 feet wide.
The slope was pretty level however we did need to elevate it a tad bit with pavers. We placed those around the perimeter and in the low corners added 2-3 pavers to level it off.
The ramp installed very smoothly with our build crew. We had a licensed and bonded general contractor on site to ensure proper safety and installation. Everything was built and painted in about 4 and a half hours. We talked to Kyle after the ramp was installed, he was hyped on it. Him and his wife are very pleased with the finished product. they are stoked to have bbqs and backyard parties with their friends to skate and enjoy the ramp with.
Earlier this week the OC Ramps crew headed up to LA to set up a halfpipe for Samsung and Lil Wayne. They ordered a custom ramp from us that was 11 feet wide, 3 and a half feet tall and 30 feet long. We also created custom platform decks at the top thatContinue reading »
