Give the next ollie a target

Set the Skate Cones' bar at five, nine, thirteen or seventeen inches and choose the height you want to work on. The set includes two cones and one thirty-eight-inch bar, giving ollie practice a repeatable target you can adjust between attempts.

Set a target for your ollie

Use the bar as a visible target when working on an ollie or another trick over an obstacle. Set it at the height you want to practice, then give yourself a clear approach and landing. The bar makes the target consistent as you return for another attempt.

Choose from four bar heights

The bar positions are five, nine, thirteen and seventeen inches. Move between those settings as you choose the challenge for the session or return to a familiar height to work on consistency. You do not have to use the highest setting to give the practice a purpose.

Practice over a thirty-eight-inch bar

One thirty-eight-inch bar spans the two cones. Position the set around the path you intend to jump across, keeping the cones and the landing area in view. The bar's length describes the included target, so allow additional space around the set for the full run.

Keep cone height separate from jump height

The cones stand twenty inches tall, while the highest bar position is seventeen inches. Use the bar setting when choosing the height you want to clear. That distinction helps you plan the practice target without mistaking the top of the cones for another adjustment position.

Make room for repeat attempts

The set weighs seven pounds. Choose a place where you can lay out the approach, landing and route back for another run, and account for putting the set away afterward. Our Space and Fit guide helps you reserve the riding area around a small obstacle.

Questions about Skate Cones

How do Skate Cones compare with a compact Wedge Bump?

Skate Cones create an adjustable horizontal target using a 38-inch bar and four height settings. A Wedge Bump is a structural takeoff that launches the rider from a plywood ramp face. Choose the cones for a movable practice goal; choose the wedge when the setup needs an actual launch surface.

How do Skate Cones compare with the Caution Skateboarding Sign?

Skate Cones give you an adjustable bar target at five, nine, thirteen or seventeen inches. The Caution Skateboarding Sign is a two-foot-high plastic sign that can also serve as an ollie target. Choose the cones when changing the target height is the job you want to do.

When is Starter Package 1 a better starting point than Skate Cones?

Consider Starter Package 1 when you want a broader ramp-and-equipment setup. Skate Cones suit a session that already has the other equipment covered and needs an adjustable ollie target. Choose around what is missing from the setup, rather than adding more obstacles simply to have more.

How can skaters use the Skate Cones?

Use the cones for slalom lines, turning drills, approach markers, or ollie practice. Adjust the included bar to create a visible clearance goal that matches the rider's current ability, then raise it gradually as consistency improves.

Can I return the Skate Cones if it is not the right fit?

The internet has all sorts of terrible ideas as to how to quiet or dampen the sound of your skateboard ramp - in particular the mini ramps (or halfpipes).

You may read about wives tales on using insulation, filling the coping with whatever, or add pillows and blankets behind the ramp.  We are here to clear the air….that is all nonsense.

There are really only 2 suggestions to help quiet your mini ramp.

  1. You can close up the back of your skateboard ramp with ¾” thick plywood.  This will eliminate the hollow sound significantly.  Again, don’t read into the bogus information about filling in that empty space before you close it up with plywood.  It doesn’t work.  Simply closing up the backend will help with the noise.  Some customers will get creative with it- we’ve seen several put hinges on the backend - making a custom door for storage, etc.  That is entirely optional to make use of the space.  But in terms of noise levels, close it up.

  2. Also using a softer gel wheel is helpful to give you the incognito vibe your neighbors won’t complain about while shredding your skateboard ramp. Generally the harder the wheel, the louder they hear ya coming! Many skaters have multiple skateboards with a different set of wheels, most prefer the harder wheels during normal street skating use & then at night we switch over to the gel softer wheels so your neighbor’s can get their precious sleep & you can shred your heart out!  Not every skater likes riding a gel wheel.  There are many pros/cons.  For this conversation, the biggest pro for having a softer wheel is the reduced noise factor.  If you have neighbors that are goin to be a narc, just throw on the soft wheels!
